The Youth Music Confrontations – Koszalin 2017
The International Piano Contest under the auspices of  the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage


Category „A”

Stage 1

  1. A baroque music work.
  2. A music work by a Polish composer.
  3. Any music piece contrasting in respect of character and pace with the music work in position 2.

 

Time of performance – up to 10 minutes.

Stage 2

  1. Brustinow – Children’s Concerto in C major for piano and orchestra, Movement III – Allegro scherzando
    or
  2. Berkowicz – The Second Concerto in C major, Op. 44 for piano and string orchestra,  Movement I – Allegro

or

any concert from the older age group ( A. Rowley, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart).

 

Category „B”

Stage 1

  1. J.S. Bach – Two-part Invention, or Three-part Invention, or any two contrasting with each other parts of a suite.
  2. A music work by a Polish composer.
  3. Any music piece contrasting in respect of character and pace with the music work in position 2.

Time of performance – up to 15 minutes.

Stage 2

  1. Rowley – Small Concerto in G major for piano and orchestra, Movement III – Rondo
    or
  2. Haydn – Piano Concerto D major Hob. XVIII:11, Movement I – Vivace

or

any concert from the older age group ( J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven).

 

Category „C”

Stage 1

 

  1. J. S. Bach – Three-part Invention, or three parts of a suite/partita, or Prelude and Fugue from „Das Wohltemperierte Klavier”

2 A music work by a Polish  composer.

3 Any music piece contrasting in respect of character and pace with the music work in position 2.

Time of performance – up to 20 minutes.

 

Stage 2

 

  1. J. Haydn – Piano Concerto in D major Hob. XVIII:11, Movement III – Rondo all’Ungharese.
    Allegro assai.

or

  1. W. A. Mozart – Piano Concerto in A major KV 414, Movement I – Allegro

or

  1. L. van Beethoven – Piano Concerto in C minor, Op. 37, Movement III – Rondo. Allegro.

 

Category „D”

Stage 1

  1. J. S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue from „Das Wohltemperierte Klavier” or toccata or three parts of an English suite/partita
  2. A music work by a Polish composer.
  3. Any music piece contrasting in respect of character and pace with the music work in position 2.

Time of performance – up to 25 minutes.

 

Stage 2

 

  1. W. A. Mozart – Piano Concerto in A major KV 414, Movement I – Allegro

or

  1. L. van Beethoven – Piano Concerto in C minor, Op. 37, Movement III – Rondo. Allegro.


We recommend the participants compositions by Andrzej Cwojdzinski as one of the possibilities to perform in Stage 1 of the contest. According to the Regulations, there is a special prize for the best performance of one of them. Foreign participants are asked to incorporate in their programme as much as possible a music work by a composer from their own country.
